Matters arising from last meeting
- Minutes from last meeting
Confirmed.
- Teaching in schools programme
-
To date, Martin and his crew have taught in five secondary schools and one primary school, and two primary schools want to be taught in. Total cost so far is less than $1300, of which schools have contributed $400. WDS and VUWSA will contribute 50% each of the remainder, so our liability will be approximately $450.
Total cost to us is low, but this also means our penetration into schools is low. This is partly our fault for poor organisation, and partly the schools' fault for poor communication.
Martin has provided a list of hours taught and schools taught at to date; exec would also like a list of school contacts who have responded, and their email addresses.
Three of the schools in the list are primary schools, and our original agreement with Martin did not cover funding for primary schools. Martin would like WDS to extend funding to cover these three primary schools (provided we stay within the funding cap we agreed on last meeting). Motion passes with one abstention (Martin).
Holiday programme: Hutt City has approached Martin about a holiday programme run by Hutt City Council over summer holidays. Exec is keen to do this, provided we (or VUWFDC) can find the manpower. We would prefer Hutt City Council pays. Martin to get back to HCC and extract more details.
Financials
- Balance: $15475.95
- Outstanding:
- $500 deposit from Steve
- ~$1000 deposit from Beth for A grade
- ~$6000 to WCC for fields for outdoors for all summer.
- $?? to WCC for Tawa.
Inventory: Simon to count the discs we have and report back to exec.
Business / Correspondence
- Upcoming tournament — Oriental Bay 22 Jan; Otaki 3, 4 Feb
-
Martin has preliminary approval from WCC for a beach ultimate day on Oriental Beach on Jan 22. This is the day after the Auckland tour event, so getting people may be difficult. Martin to make plans. Martin, Kate, Tanya to pursue radio / newspaper sponsorship.
"Wellington Wild Wind" — Otaki 3/4 — Wellington beach tournament. Details not yet finalized.
John to advertise both on website.
- Bad weather
-
Martin to contact council to see if we can get a rebate for lost nights.
- Outdoor league — BBQ on last day of each grade
-
Beth proposes we fund a BBQ for the last day of each league (Tue 19, Thur 21), as a social event, and an attempt to make up for the bad weather we have had this season. WDS to supply up to $400 covering both nights. Motion passes.
- Outdoor league — draft or teams
-
Exec votes in favour of teams (8 in favour, 2 abstain).
Three options: Mixed, Mens/Womens, Completely open. Exec votes in favour of Mixed (4 votes; Mens/womens 1 vote; open 3 votes). Beth to send email announcing changes. John to update website.
- Tawa Gym Money
-
We haven't paid Tawa yet because they haven't invoiced us. Marc to contact Tawa to say that we will pay as soon as they invoice us.
- Indoor leagues next year
-
Marc is in charge of preparing for indoor leagues next year (even though this exec will finish before they start) and is the contact for any WCC changes (eg, fee increases).
