Matters arising from last meeting
- Minutes from last meeting
- Confirmed.
- B/C grade job description
Not done yet.
Financials
Steve suggests quarterly updates — ie: at the end of each league.
Currently about $14,000 in the bank and about $5,000 owing (for a "real" balance of $9,000 or so).
Business / Correspondence
- Indoor coaching
-
We have booked Tawa for the next two Saturdays @ 3 hours each (cost: $200). What do we do?
Suggest — mini-tournament aimed at B/C grade teams, possibly with training. Steve to organise.
- Outdoor coaching
-
Can we offer outdoor coaching, when summer starts? Whom to target? Tanya to investigate options; potential coaches.
Tanya to come up with proposals by November meeting.
- A grade this summer
-
Lots of people will be away at Perth. Do we want to still run A grade in the first season? Suggestion — keep the field booking, but don't get paint? We have a portafield that we can use.
- Field markings for B/C grade? Yes - unanimous.
- Field markings for A grade before Christmas? No - unanimous.
Marc to organise exec members to show up early to set up portafield, cones.
Running A grade pre-Perth or immediately post-Perth: Draft? Form own teams? Perth teams? No decision yet; exec members to talk to people (particularly Perth players). Exec to discuss by email in 2 weeks (~20th September).
- Teaching in schools proposal (Martin)
-
Martin wants $1500 from us to continue his teaching in schools proposal. Martin's proposal was sent quite late; exec members want more time to consider the proposal. Exec is broadly in favour. Exec to vote by email on this issue in 2 weeks.
- Tourneys proposal (Martin)
-
Martin has brought a list of possible tournaments Martin and/or other WDS exec members could run.
Martin to organise an end-of-season indoor tournament for the weekend of Sep30/Oct01.
Secondary schools tournament: College Sport Wgtn has proposed a secondary schools ultimate tournament, but they have not yet suggested a date. Exec is keen, but we need a date. Martin wants approx. $200 for prizes and field hire (unless those costs are covered somehow else). More detail required. Exec votes to offer an indication of support. Martin to go back to College Sport to get more details.
5-aside hat tournament in summer — if we hold this at Martin-Luckie Park, we will have fields marked already, so it will be dirt cheap. Mid-league. Steve to investigate possible dates for a social tournament at Martin-Luckie.
Kapiti Beach sports day: WDS commits to running Ultimate at this. Martin to liaise with organisers; WDS to choose someone to run the tournament closer to the date.
Wellington Beach Tournament. Martin wants to run a beach tournament in Wgtn. Exec thinks his proposed dates (January) are risky. Martin is taking all the risk, so up to him anyway. Martin to investigate further dates. Anyone with ideas or criticism, send to Martin.
Anniversary Weekend open day: Martin to run this, other exec members to turn up and help out as coaches.
Kilbernie festival: Martin is looking for someone to run an ultimate tournament at this. Defer decision to later meeting.
Fiji beach tournament: Not really our issue. Exec thinks: Hell yeah.
- Goals update
-
Where Tanya thinks we're at:
- Financial issues — we (particularly Steve) need to do more, re. budgets, etc.
- Sunday pickup — need to advertise more. Kate to send advertisements on Wednesdays.
- Build accuracy kit — abandon this idea. Marc to mock experienced players when they screw up.
- Taupo Hat
-
Kate & Simon need volunteers to run on the day.
