Meeting start 2006-07-02 15.00
Welcome / Apologies
- Present
Tanya Waisbrod, John Fouhy, Martin Wilson, Simon Cowie, Liz Borberg, Steve Sigley
- Apologies
Juho Sarkila, Mark van der Poest Clement, Beth Hine
Matters arising from last meeting
- Liz, Penny to run stall.
Guidelines for onselling discs? Exec members present feel that we should encourage people who buy in bulk to on-sell (if they wish to on-sell) at not more than $15.
- Contribution to Perth athletes
-
Gary Jarvis wants us to give Worlds Squad money. Tanya has sent an email to other regional bodies asking for them to match our contribution. Some regions (mainly, those with players going to worlds) agreed.
Contribution options:
- Paying for field/lights for evening training for Wellington players.
- Paying for fields for training camps.
Question: What do we get back from the players going to Perth if we put money into them?
Proposal: WDS contributes $200 per training camp (3 camps → $600 total). WDS makes it clear to camp attendees that this is the Wellington Region supporting them, and we would appreciate any help you can give the region in return. (although we are not requiring anything specifc). Vote passes unanimous.
Lights/fields: Night training will cost about $350 for now until Perth. Do we want to cover this or ask players to pay themselves? Currently, WDS is underwriting the training (ie: we will pay if the players can't cover it themselves). Proposal: WDS to cover the cost of night training (to a maximum of $350 — could be less, depending on when lights are used). 3 in favour, 1 against, 2 abstentions. Tanya (as chairperson) makes casting vote: motion passes.
- Schools
Last year, WDS funded VUWFDC to about $1500 to teach ultimate in schools. Martin thinks demand from schools will triple, relative to last year, but he doesn't expect us to contribute three times as much.
Martin expects to approach WDS in 4-6 weeks for money.
- Charging for coaching
WDS is running one-off coaching on Tuesday/Wednesday nights next week. Do we charge players to attend?
Proposal: WDS fund the training. 5 for, 1 against, 1 abstention. Tanya to send out email.
- Internet update
Simon is preparing an estimate for cost of building our own cool site from scratch.
Kate reports TeamTastic beta is ready. JJSK subcomittee to play with it, get together on their own to discuss.
- Liz reports on High Performance Luncheon
Liz attended luncheon at the High Performance Centre at the stadium. They have lots of cool stuff, but Liz thinks we would not get much out of using their gear.
They also have nutritionalists and sports psychologists who can give presentations, if we pay the money and give them some background information on our sport. Not sure what it costs; it may depend on who is asking. Liz to get details, survey people at the training camp, and come up with a propsoal.
Next meeting
Possibly — 10am Sunday morning (Liz to cook eggs).
Exec prefers Monday evening.
