Google Calendar

Tanya has set up a Google Calendar thingumy for the monthly meetings.

New B grade teams

Tanya, Marc have kinda put together two new B grade teams. We had a test game last week, and attempting to solidify teams tomorrow. PLayers will be asked to pay $10 for the remainder of the league.

Wellington indoor sports facility

Beth has made a submission to WCC in support of the proposed Cobham Drive indoor sports stadium.

Building competitive Wellington team

Liz and Kate to organise a meeting of minds amongst key Wellington ultimate personalities.

Survey results

Beth has survey results in. Beth to email John with electronic copy of results for inclusion in the minutes.

Indoor coaching

Following on from survey — some people expressed some interest in coaching (indoor or outdoor), but many people did not. Some uncertainty about charging for coaching — should we? How much can we charge without putting everyone off?

Liz suggests a focus on indoor coaching leading up to Indoor Nationals, as Wellington often sends many social teams to Indoor Nats. Tanya suggests a series of four training sessions leading up to Indoor Nats, or Simon suggests two 2-3 hour sessions on Saturdays before the tournament. Juho to investigate gyms, to find out if this is even an option for us.

Martin suggests indoor training sessions in the two-week break between this league and the next league. Marc to look into getting Karori for the two-week break for 6pm-9pm. Charge players $2 each for the sessions.

Grant applications

Martin needs a budget for the year before he can apply for a grant. Tanya to follow up this with Steve.

Indoorpendence Day

Website

Kate proposes moving the WDS website to Teamtastic, which will easily support members, a forum, photo galleries, news updates, calendar, etc.

Downsides:

Google ads.
Lose our domain name on the website (would still redirect).
League support — John is concerned about the ability of Teamtastic to support league results, etc, as we currently have. Kate suggests keeping league info hosted on egressive, and linking to them from the Teamtastic site.
John also concerned about all the other content on WDS — general league info, exec minutes, etc. Probably have to pay extra for this.
Simon concerned about redirecting to a foreign site beyond our control — some people have restricted internet access outside NZ, don't like loss of control, etc.

John to make a list of what we need for a TT site (in terms of extra content) and Kate to follow up with her brother.

Simon to examine the existing website, consider how he would like to redesign it and what work would be involved. John to give Simon information he needs to do this.

WDS to go ahead with the beta testing of Teamtastic.

John, Kate, Juho, Simon to form subgroup to discuss further.

Juho to keep his forum project on hold for the moment.

Winter tournament

Auckland may be running Taupo Hat, but we aren't sure. Tanya to contact Sharif again to double-check that they are not running anything.

Kate, Simon (, Steve?), Liz, to organise. Talk to Dave Horn, who has run the tournament in previous years. Kate, Simon to get back to us next meeting.

PE Conference

PE Conference in Wellington in October. We have been offered a lunchtime slot at the conference. Tanya to liaise with conference organisers to find out what level would be appropriate, what we can/should do, etc. Liz to help prepare a presentation.

Tour event

Dave Campbell is 06/07 tour coordinator. Wellington will probably get the March tournament.

Night training

Outdoor night training (with lights) will be funded by players training. WDS is underwriting the training, but we expect to get all our money back.

Indoorpendence Day

Indoorpendence Day is now booked for Saturday the 8th of July, at the same venue (Porirua Rec Centre). Charging $590 (cheaper than last year), possibly as an unofficial way of saying sorry for not giving us an account for last year.

Tournament for profit

Martin wants to organise a summer beach tournament, either up the coast (Levin or Otaki, eg), or Lyall Bay (which is always windy). WDS members unofficially think out of town is better.

Martin to email a proposal to the exec.

Financials

Steve, treasurer, unable to make it this week. Steve sent notes to Tanya but she lost them.

Martin would like to see a monthly simply financial report — expected expenses, expected costs, where we stand, et cetera. Juho interested in accounts receivable, accounts payable, projected costs, etc. for the current month. Martin moves, Kate seconds, that Steve produce monthly written report of accounts receivable and projected costs for the month. Motion passes.

Juho and Tanya to talk to Steve about supporting him in making a budget.

Business

Info

Tanya to prepare a table with key ultimate-related dates for the year, contact people, et cetera.

Goals

Alternative disc sports — like to organise half-day of goaltimate, maybe DDC, other sports. Simon to get the kit from Dave, organise this (possibly to coincide with a midwinter party).
Freestyle — Kate to investigate holding a freestyle tournament. Martin suggests freestyle competition at Oriental Beach in summer. Talk also Oceans teams (International Pacific College), who seem to be good at freestyle.

Tanya to send out final goals to exec.

Party

Liz, Beth, Martin, Simon, Kate to organise a midwinter party / quiz.

Next meeting

Back at Steve's house, Monday July 3rd. Possibly move to Sunday 2nd?
