Matters arising from last meeting
- A grade job description
Dave and Martin to come up with a contract for the next meeting.
- Hat tournament
Adrian was to organize a hat tournament, but Adrian is not in Wellington in March and the tournament needs to be in March to avoid clashing with other tournaments.
Adrian to organize fields, John to put signup form on website, Adrian to talk to Brett about food, Steve to be TD on the day. Adrian to talk to Gary about amp/stereo. BBQ run by VUWFDC after last game, at profit if they wish. Confirm Saturday March 25.
- A grade uniforms
Martin has more quotes. Leanne to look at quotes and submit application.
Martin moves, Leanne seconds that we apply to gaming trusts for money to buy A grade uniforms with.
- Banner
Awaiting Dave to produce sample designs.
- Beach tournaments
Four teams of six at Paraparaumu. Too windy at the beach so they moved to a park — bit awkward but event was still successful.
- Letter of complaint to NZU
Gary has responded positively to our emailed suggestion. We hope NZU will get its act sorted out by its next AGM.
- Newsletter
Newsletter was emailed out.
- Discs
Discs have arrived and are at Dave's house. Dave suggests selling them $10 each, since the cost worked out to approximately $9.50 each. Aaron, Shane worry that this will undercut other regions, establish a precedent of $10 discs which could cause problems for other regions or for us later in the year.
Aaron suggests $10 per disc as a volume price, $15 per disc for individual sales.
Steve notes that we are spending money quite effectively, and he would not mind if we made some more.
Exec decides to sell new discs for $15 each, or $125 for 10. Unsold old discs to be centralised with Dave. They will have an effective price of $15, but we won't actively sell them — perhaps sell them to TDs as game discs, or to schools (because they have the rule print).
Dave to look after all discs until the end of our term.
Financials
Steve still hasn't quite finished everything. Steve to work real hard to get everything sorted out.
Leanne suggests putting some of our stockpile of cash into an interest-bearing account. Steve and Aaron to investigate putting some money into a term deposit.
Business / Correspondence
- AGM
Need to think about how to get more/new people onto the AGM? Everyone to make an effort to scout new talent, and subtly guide them towards deciding to stand.
Shane sold three discs to students, then had the money stolen from his office at school. School refuses to cover the theft. Exec agrees to waive the debt.
Noon–6pm. Tournament format: Alternating, 20-minute demo game, 20-minute public playing. Experienced players not in the demo game to coach members of the public. Martin to email asking for assistance setting up from 11am, also make announcement tomorrow at A grade league night.
Some B/C grade players want structured coaching at their level. Martin proposes 30-minute structured coaching on Tuesday nights, after games finish. Adrian, Shane keen to help out.
Martin is also interested in designing a coaching programme, so that [potential] coaches have some guidance as to how they should teach people.
- Events Centre tournament
Martin suggests holding an indoor tournament at the Events Centre in Wellington. Events Centre is ultra expensive, so this will require funding from gaming trusts. Exec undecided about this. Martin to do some more research.
Next meeting

Meeting after that: Monday 20th March, 6.15pm, Steve's house.
