Vic Wildcats win gold at Uni Games

Victoria University's Wildcats dominated the Uni Games ultimate frisbee tournament to win gold at Hawera. Recording six straight wins and a 107-12 points differential on the road to the final, the Wildcats beat a resurgent Massey Palmerston North 17-5 to take back the gold it last held in 2007.

Coming straight off a tough semi-final against Auckland 1, Massey raced out to a 3-0 lead before the Wildcats recovered to lead 9-4 at halftime. After the break the Wildcats were too strong, dominating the last half with a further eight points under co-captains Matt Broughton and Bekah Neal.
Following the game Broc Harcourt and Bekah Neal were named in the tournament team.
The Wildcats have now won two golds, one silver, and one bronze in the last four years of Uni Games competition.
